Our Scala Experience lets you discover the original scores which made history in the world of opera, including the original score of Giacomo Puccini of La Bohéme in 1896. Discover the world of theatrical design by visiting the master tailors. These tailors make remarkable outfits and costumes as well as outstanding backdrops and sets, that are created in an ad hoc fashion for the Scala Theatre.
The theatre was established in 1778 and was previously known as the Nuovo Regio Ducale Teatro alla Scala (i.e. New Royal-Ducal Theatre alla Scala.) During the past 200 years, the majority of Italy’s greatest artists and international singers have appeared at the theatre. La Scala is seen to be one of the leading ballet- and opera theatres and is home to the La Scala Theatre Ballet, La Scala Theatre Chorus and La Scala Theatre Orchestra. The theatre is also home to an associate school, which is the La Scala Theatre Academy, offering professional training in the field of music, dance, and both stage craft as well as stage management.
